Keeping it “Rail” - Chongqing and Beihai Connected by High-speed Rail starting July 1

China’s railway network has prepared for rising passenger traffic during the upcoming summer peak travel season.

On average, 5.35 million passengers, an increase of 7.3 million from the same time last year, are expected to travel by train during the peak travel season, which starts on July 1.

The summer travel peak will last to Aug 31, for a total of 62 days. The highest peak rush times is expected from the end of June to the first of September, with daily peak passenger flow expected to exceed 0.9 million people this year.

This summer, two high-speed trains,one from Chengdu to Urumqi (K4756/5) and another from Chongqing Bei to Urumqi (K4732/1) will begin operation. These lines will be the fastest connection between these cities, cutting down travel times.

Additionally, starting July 1, the new high-speed link between Chengdu/Chongqing to Beihai (Guangxi province), which provide the most convenient ways to travel.

One thing to note; in order to ensure passenger safety and property security and train operation in flood season, the Chengdu Bureau Railway Company will optimize a new operation schedule with T8865/6 (Chengdu-Xichang) and T8870/69 (Panzhihua- Chengdu) to cope with the increasing number of passengers in July, scheduling them to change to start at dawn and arrive at dusk.
